Son of D.B Cooper here.

My father would always tell us that he was D.B. Cooper, so much so that when my little sister was in elementary school and the D.B case came up in one of her classes she didn't want talk about it with her classmates and had a huge amount of anxiety over my family's safety/future freedom. Haha! Here's to weird/borderline messed up parenting methods. I love my folks.....(mixed emotional tear).....hmmm. NOTE: My dad would have ben about 23 at the time and working his city job far away/taking care of his newborn (me) at the time. But thats kinda hard to put together when you are little, hehe.

The book is a great read and D.B. is a very generous and funny fellow. He apparently wants to give away some of the case and has left a chunk of the "future" book proceeds to one lucky winner that is going to pick up on the "7 clues" Mr. Cooper has left for us in the pages of the novel(?) I haven't finished the book yet personally but so far he has informed us that he invested a large chunk of the stolen money in Boeing Stock to "say thanks". Hehe, pretty awesome. I once took a criminal justice class as an elective from an ex- F.B.I officer who was actually assigned to the Cooper case and man-o-man was he still angry about not catching D.B. Cooper. The instructor swore up and down that Cooper was "dead'' and did NOT take kindly to questions regarding why the investigators never found a body. (did the FBI ever buy his book?!?!) So this case is STILL a touchy subject for some and very much lives i the minds of some Cascadia folks ,crime buffs, history majors and law enforcement till this day. Definitely one of the greatest NW legends to ever to exist! D.B, I hope you are living/ lived it up with that chunk of dough you didn't ditch on the bank of the river!!! Hehe. Recommended reading for any D.B Cooper nerd or fan of bizarre, novelty fiction. This book is quite rare I hear these days so if you can find a copy (especially under 20 bucks) BUY IT!!! Maybe that prize Mr. Cooper was offering is still available??!!? Full reimbursement for the book purchase and then some! Who knows, try it out!!!

There is a great deal of mystery about who actually wrote the thing

I actually picked up my copy of this book at the annual DB Cooper Celebration that goes on in Ariel, WA each November. Dona Eliott, the lady who owned the Arield General Store and Tavern and ran the shindig, had access to copies of the book. Unfortunately, she died in October 2015 and her family cancelled the 2015 celebration. It is unknown whether it will ever return.

About the book: There is a great deal of mystery about who actually wrote the thing, because it wasn't the REAL Cooper, of course. But it is well-written and very entertaining. The green title of the cover is embossed, not just printed on there, so whoever published it did a pretty good job for back in the day. Dona Elliot told me that she knew who the writer was, and I believe her. One reason is even after so many years after it was published, she kept coming up with more copies. (Ariel Store also had a section of DB Cooper colletibles, etc for sale) She sold them for six bucks each. If you can get your hands on a copy a little cheaper than Amazon's price, I would do it. Fun read, and being a writer/editor myself I can tell you two things about the author of the book: First, he knows how to write and spell, and the book was professionally edited. Second, this is NOT the first thing this writer has ever published. Other than it, he is still a mystery.

Good Companion to Praying Through the Window III

This book focuses on the major urban centers in the 10/40 window. The background and statistical informaton for each city (including unreached peoples) is laid out in easy to read format. A map is also provied for each city and can help one keep the city in perspective. Specific prayer requests are listed for each city. I have found this book to be an excellent companion book to Praying Through the Window III: The Unreached Peoples. Using these books in tandem will not only make your prayer life more focused, but will also give you a deeper appreciation for other peoples around the world.

I've never read a book like this before but it was one of my son's homeschooling read alouds this year. I really like it in some ways... its introduced my son and I to places we knew nothing about, showed us their strengths and struggles... and how we can pray for and help others in these areas of the world. The information is rather dry for most cities, but still very interesting nuggets.... just wish it was written in a more appealing way for children.... and adults. On at least one of the pages, the cities information is presented in story format and that really made it a lot easier to put ourselves into the situation.

About the Author
Born in the country near Stafford, England, Pete Cooper began playing the violin at the age of 9 and went on to study English at Belliol College, Oxford. He began his professional career as a fiddler and singer in 1978, performing in Britain, Europe, and the USA first with Appalachian dulcimer player, Holly Tannen, then with traditional singer, Peta Webb. Since the mid 1980s, Peter has concentrated his musical efforts on the study and teaching of folk fiddle styles. His first solo album, All Around the World (1990), released on his own label, Fiddling From Scratch, featured music from Ireland, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and the USA. His 1993 album, The Wounded Hussar, explores the rich diversity of the Irish tradition and includes many of the tunes in this book The Complete Irish Fiddle Player. Pete currently teaches in London and reviews for Musical Traditions and Folk Roots magazines. He has composed music for film and, in addition to solo gigs, performs with a group called Vivando whose 1995 release by the same name includes some of his own compositions.

Tommy Peoples Here I Come!

Well, I can dream can't I? Peter Cooper had me playing--using the term loosely--the Irish Washerwoman in no time. Each song introduces a new element to add to your arsenel of Irish fiddling technique: slurs, grace notes, variations, combining tunes into sets, bowing patterns, and on and on. Most tunes are preceded by a brief lesson: advice, a description of what's coming in the next tune, a breakdown of the patterns, or bars or techniques to practice before trying the tune, etc. Tunes progress in difficulty quite quickly for a beginner. I've got a lot to work on already and I'm only up to tune #6. But I'm having a great time and enjoying Mr. Cooper's selections and advice. There are at least seven tunes in this volume that can be found on Bothy Band albums, such as Butterfly (a version of which is also the haunting tune in the film Secret of Roan Inish). In other words, if you like traditional Irish fiddle music, you'll find some of your favorites in this book. Be sure to purchase this book with its companion cd. Cooper plays each tune in the book: it is invaluable to listen to the rhythms and intonation of the tunes played by a real musician. While I'm no expert, it's difficult to imagine a better organized, more inspiring, collection of tunes. If you're in the mood to fiddle, this is a book to try.

This is simply the best book purchase I have ever made.

I learned the violin at 7 and stopped when I was 14. Now at 28 I decided to pick it up again. My friend told me that Irish fiddling is great for solos, and I have to agree. Irish fiddle tunes provide its own rythm so that solo violin does not sound bland. One of the frustrating thing about classical violin is that there are so few pieces written for solo violin, and they tend to be very difficult.

This is a superb instructional book (and make sure you buy the version with the CD). In three weeks I am learning my sixth song and with each song I learn new techniques and idoims. The book starts with simple tunes and becomes increasingly complex and challenging. But even the simple songs are very tuneful and "Irish." The book is much more than a collection of scores but a self-teaching guide to understanding and playing Irish fiddle. Being Asian, I really enjoy all the tales and additional info about Irish music that help me understand where this music comes from. Lacking any talent in violin playing, when I ordered the book I thought it might take a year or so for me to learn something, but now it looks like in three months I can start entertaining my friends with a few tunes.

If I HAD THIS BOOK AS A TEENAGER, I PORBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED PLAYING THE VIOLIN BACK THEN.

TEN Stars - And order the edition that comes with CDs

Mr. Cooper has done what so few have done in teaching us to play fiddle. He has progressively placed each tune from simple to moderately complex, beginning to end, through the book. But the best of this book is the (OPTIONAL) two CD version which has him starting at a very easy pace for beginners. Toward the end of CD #2 he is playing at a faster but still followable pace for the student to grasp. Most accompanying CDs are an "Ain't I great?" show of the author's abilities. Instead, Peter Cooper puts away his ego and steps you through how to perform a finger a roll or a slur the Irish way.

I love this book. It gave me the ability to join in at many local sessions with confidence.

Another reviewer was disappointed that s/he ordered this book, but failed to realize that their book did not come with CDs. These reviews (like this one that you are reading now) are linked to two editions of this book; one that includes 2 CDs, and another (same book) that does not include the CDs. This is a very common situation when buying music instruction books. So, the Reder Reviews can innocently mislead you. Order carefully! Make your item selection on the information from the Web Site Vendor, not from reviewers comments.

If you are an aspiring Irish Fiddler and
- don't have access to a teacher, or
- want additional "tutoring" between your fiddle classes, or
- you're frustrated trying to keep up with the playing speed of other master fiddlers' recordings,
then I highly recommend spending the extra money for the edition of this book that includes 2 CDs. See my earlier review to find out why I appreciate Pete's work on these CDs!

excelent reference for any course in advanced transport phenomena, good balance in math and theory, and easy to read, very well organized, like most of the book writen by Mech Engs.... (Excellent for Chem Engs and Mech Engs, but not good for those areas weak in math)

About the Author
Dr Suvarna is a Consultant Histopathologist, based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. He has a special interest in cardiovascular and respiratory/thoracic pathology and has developed an interest in autopsy skill training. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists as well as the Royal College of Surgeons.
