Margaret Cole had no choice but to agree to the terms that her new boss, William Tanner set before her. She didn't like it at all, but she was loyal to her family. She would do what she had to do.
William Tanner is the new CEO of Cameron Enterprises, who have bought out her old company, Worth Industries. He met Margaret six months ago at a masked Valentine's Day ball, and after one kiss at midnight, was unable to forget her. He discovered who she was, and now he knew just how to make her his. He may come to regret it.
I truly enjoyed Margaret's character, not only for her loyalty to her brother, but also her loyalty to her co-workers. She had earned not only their respect but their praise as well. She was independent, determined, and at times, outspoken. She couldn't help the attraction she felt for William any more than he could. All she had to do was convince his family that she was his fiancee. Piece of cake...right?
The story developed steadily, and easily caught me up in it. I did have a hard time putting it down. This story will draw you in emotionally. I like that William really did seem to care about Margaret and what would please her.
For any romance reader with a little business thrown in. His family was terrific.

I Thought the last book in the series was my favorite but it was by far this book. the characters seem so real. I really enjoyed reading this book it Was Hard to put down. on to the next one in this series.

It was Unexpected

You do not see IR books with a BW/AM, ever. The closest that I can think of is the Battaglia Series by Sienna Mynx, but I am stretching that. Because of this, I immediately bought the book. The story was fun, I enjoyed. It was your typical boy (who happens to be a major int’l pop star) meets regular working class gal who has no clue who he is at first then the normal situation of how can she fit in his world? Will she be accepted? Yes, a predictable story line, but with BW/AM twist. I like learning Korean words. (Although I still don’t know the translation of Jahgi. I will have to reread, I may have missed it.) The band members were fun and would love to read a short side story on all of them. I am interested in K-Pop so I had my own visuals, the fictional band in the story, T4L it was Super Junior/M and Big Bang. (For G.K. my visual was the rapper G-Dragon.) For the hero Kai, my visual was the hottie in the Fast & Furious movies Sung Kang, sometimes Daniel Dae Kim. I had to give the author a ding for the grammar/spelling errors found in the book. But overall, it was an enjoyable little read. Thanks Ms. G. Oh, and if anyone knows of any IR books with a BW/AM let me know, would love to read more.

Ahh! Loved It!

This was a really great read. I loved Noel and Kai and just couldn't put the book down. Although both hero/heroine were young, early 20s, I found them to be responsible and knew what they wanted. There were minimal drama and the Kai's band mates were very fun and supportive. I would love to read more about Noel and Kai as they grow together, especially if Noel is making her home in Korea.

Highly recommended!

I absolutely LOVED this book!!!! After getting halfway, yes halfway, through this book, I stopped where I was at and returned to the beginning to burn this romance into my memory ( I have never done such a thing before). Perhaps it's my love for heroines who are dark skin, curvaceous, hard working women or because I love me some hot Asian guys (shout out to the hot Asian guy in the Fast and Furious movies!!), but I found this story to be sooooooo amazing!!!! This writing was so descriptive that I felt like I could see the concert scenes playing out before me - now that''s true talent, Sarah G! And the love scenes were freaking HOT!!! So hot that I had to reread their first encounter several times - yes, people, it was that hot!!!!!!!!!!! And I so enjoyed all the supporting characters, esp all the other band members!! Sarah G, I beg of you to pick up the pen and give G.K. the love of his life......and please make her a sister:--)

I haven't read a book this addictive, yes addictive people, since "The Beast" by Pepper Pace! No doubt that I will read this book over and over and over again!! Yes, there were some grammatical errors; however, they did not take anything away from this story! I searched and saw that this is your only IR romance published - please don't make it your last. I know true talent when I read it (hello Pepper, Sienna, Latrivia), and I so see you being included in that group one day. I am so looking forward to the next book (G.K. story hopefully) and thanks in advance!! Sarah G, I don't do this often and especially not for an author that I just encountered; however, I must give you a standing ovation for this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The castle is seized by the Imperial Army, headed by Prince Mefist who decides to use Montebello because of its strategic location. Prince Mefist soon demands the younger nuns for the officers' bordello and forces Therese (Mother Superior Therese) to choose between giving in to his demands or he will seize women from the local village. Therese resigns to the inevitable and assumes her new position of Madam, thus ensuring her continued support of the nuns. Though soon enough Therese finds she is falling under the spell of the Prince. You will need to keep an open mind when reading this story about a group of nuns who become prostitutes. This book is one of the more controversial erotic novels.� Although at times Prince Mefist and his sister, Wanda, are blas� about what is forced on these nuns, I still found this story kept me interested to discover the fate of these women. It was well written and it displayed emotional depth and character development, as well as the differing viewpoints of the various characters. The author does not intentionally set out to titillate the readers. The [book] is interesting and there are some very HOT moments with some very tasteful scenes. The premise offered here is that this may be a situation born out of the necessity of war; these women simply have no other choice. This book also centers on the story of Therese's sexual awakening through Mefist and his sister, Wanda. With their help Therese is awakened to a life of deep sensuality, but also craving intimacy from the man she loves, Mefist. Prince Mefist is a charismatic, handsome, and debonair character who easily maniapulates but also treats people under his charge with care and kindness. The Prince and the Nun is one of the earlier novels by Jacqueline George and is set in 1940 in the Slovakian village of Krasna Dolina. Therese von Falberg is Mother Superior of the Sisters of Magdalene, whose Convent is housed in Montebello Castle and also the Chatelaine of the Castle whilst the reigning Count Egerhazy and his family have fled to America at the first rumblings of war. When Captain Prince Franz Mefist of the Imperial Army turns up to establish his Army base at the Castle, he matter-of-factly informs Therese he will need a dozen of her nuns to entertain his officers in the Officers Club. At her shocked refusal, he orders some village women to be found for the purpose. Therese soon realises that, to save the wives and daughters of the village, she will have to agree to become the Madam of the nuns' bordello. Mefist's cousin Wanda turns up to help the nuns become courtesans and the girls are happy to follow orders. But as a nun, Therese finds her growing attraction to Mefist and her curiosity about sex disturbing.
I have always enjoyed sexy romance and erotica, but what drew me to this novel was the plot. At first I was unsure about nuns in the 40s being so uninhibited, then I decided that with their vow of obedience to their Mother Superior and Franz's and Wanda's charisma and after all, it's the war, I could accept that and sit back and enjoy the story. Certainly, none of the nuns who taught me were like these: I guess I was taught by Sister Brigitte clones. I remain intrigued at where Therese drew the line on her own personal acceptable behaviour. This story has plenty of humour and romance and some very hot sex in different flavours. The backstory of the war goings-on give the plot realism and some lighter relief between the hotter scenes. The characters had some depth and novel asks some ethical questions about life during wartime. I would have liked a bit more of Therese and Mefist at the end. The name of the sisters' order was a cute touch, considering the profession of Mary Magdalene. I enjoyed this novel and I think it would translate well into an adult movie.

About the Author

Amit Gross completed his undergraduate studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and earned his M.Sc and Ph.D from Auburn University, Alabama, USA. He conducted postdoctoral training in Australia and at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, where he is currently associate professor in the Department of Environmental Hydrology and Microbiology, Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research, Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research. Dr. Gross’s research involves the treatment and efficient use of marginal water and the environmental risks associated with contaminated water resources. Widely published, he serves on the editorial boards of several journals and on the committees of various national and international conferences.

Adi Maimon completed her undergraduate studies in marine sciences at the Ruppin Academic Center, Israel. She earned her M.Sc in 2010, and then undertook a Ph.D program with Dr. Gross at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, where she currently studies various aspects of greywater reuse.

Yuval Alfiya completed his undergraduate studies in environmental engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, where he also earned an M.Sc in agricultural engineering. From 2004 to 2008, he worked as a research assistant in the National Center for Mariculture, Eilat, Israel. He then worked for five years as a research engineer with Dr. Friedler. In 2013, he began his Ph.D program with Dr. Friedler at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, where he currently studies various aspects of greywater reuse.

Eran Friedler completed his undergraduate studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and earned his Ph.D from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. He conducted postdoctoral training at the Imperial College London, UK, and then returned to Israel to become a partner in an environmental consultancy. He is currently associate professor in the Department of Environmental, Water, and Agricultural Engineering, member of the Grand Water Research Institute, and senior research fellow of the Samuel Neaman Institute for Advanced Studies in Science and Technology at the Technion. Widely published, Dr. Friedler is associate editor of the Urban Water Journal and serves on various conference committees.

Excellent Book on Microcomputer Systems!

Actually I was very shocked to show up to the first day of my Microcomputer Systems I class to find out that this book was written by the ECE chair at my school (I am an undergraduate in Computer Engineering)! If your looking to master the basics of working with Microcontrollers to more advanced concepts this book is for you! I believe this book was written for two Microcontrollers by Freescale Semiconductor. The book introduces you to lots theory and gives you general ideas on how to apply it. These Microcontrollers can be programmed in an IDE called Freescale Codewarrior (Great IDE) in C or assembly (Some examples but don't expect full tutorials). This is a great book if you've got a good background on Digital Logic Design and are looking to learn more advanced Computer Engineering. Takes two semesters to finish this book at my school.

Sadly relevant in today's United States

Written in the wake of 1950s McCarthyism, Hofstadter's outline of the status of the "intellectual" in American society is not perfect, yet still worth reading. He starts the book with several 1950s-era quotations in which the intellectual, and the idea of learning for its own sake, is criticized. He then identifies four main areas responsible for American anti-intellectualism: religion; politics; business; and elementary education. These areas are then explored in detail. The historical development of these aspects of American society is fascinating and not familiar to most people.

The major weakness of his argument concerns cause and effect. Although each section is full of examples in which excessive education is criticized, Hofstadter does not convincingly explain why American society gravitated towards simplistic and anti-intellectual tendencies. For example, the rise of evangelistic religions in which excessive academic training is seen as a hindrance to salvation is presented as a factor that contributed to anti-intellectualism. Shouldn't the real question be why Americans gravitated to evangelism rather than to faiths which required more formal training of their ministers? Not until the section on business does Hofstadter propose that the economic success of immigrants who previously belonged to the lower (and uneducated) classes was critical to the success of anti-intellectualism.

50 years after its publication, it is easy to see that Hofstadter's optimism that anti-intellectualism had died out was premature. And sadly, the one area that Hofstadter had never seen evidence of anti-intellectualism, namely knowledge of the physical sciences, has now become a key battleground in American politics with the current doubt of climate change.

A Definitive History of the Intellectual Culture of America

Professor Hofstadter sets the standard for the dissection of many facets of U.S. history. Here he tells the tale of the intertwining factors of American culture and politics that lead to prevalent anti-intellectualism. Although published in 1963, this remains the definitive work on the distrust of elites and experts and is sadly relevant to the present day. Hofstadter writes with a storyteller's style that does not skip or gloss over details but invites the reader to enjoy the experience of learning. He also often displays a wry sense of humor. If you want to understand why those most qualified to address issues -- whether they be foreign policy, law, running government, social sciences, etc. -- are often considered suspect sources of information while talking heads with no knowledge but loud voices are embraced, this book explains the framework for that culture. Personally, I found the writing so smooth and the subject so engrossing I could hardly take breaks between devouring the book.

Hofstadter combines both painstaking detail and sweeping themes. I cannot imagine even the most learned people not learning new details about American history and the forces that have shaped our nation. Hofstadter's analysis is very persuasive -- analytical but with passion and new insights. Even events or people from American history that one knows about, one will be shown new perspectives. For example, one might not have considered how American democratic principles can encourage anti-intellectualism. Or how our economic system and intelligentsia themselves can sometimes encourage expertise and other times discourage it. It shouldn't need to be said that a Pulitzer Prize winning book is a must read, but I'll say it anyway.

One of the most important books I've ever read - can't praise it highly enough

First, let me say what this book is not. It's not a book that can be understood only by deep and brilliant minds. The style is clear and readable, and anyone who can read and understand a newspaper editorial can understand what is said here. It's not a peevish rant about how everyone below a certain IQ level, or everyone of a certain political persuasion, or everyone who goes to church, must be mentally dull. The author goes out of his way to be fair and even-handed to all points of view, perhaps especially those with which he doesn't agree.

Finally, even though it was published when John F. Kennedy was President, it is decidedly not out of date. In fact, anyone reading it will be amazed how the problems described here, from 50, 150, or even 200 years ago, may still crop up today.

What is an intellectual? It is not necessarily someone with a genius-level IQ, or someone who speaks 5 languages, or even necessarily someone who discovers a new theory in physics.

An intellectual is simply someone who takes the same pleasure in the exercise of his or her mind, in exploring ideas, as healthy and physically fit people do when they're out throwing a Frisbee or playing touch football. The pleasure is in the activity itself.

Imagine a small child trying to see how many blocks she can stack up on top of each other before they fall. On the one hand, the child is playing--that is, doing something for no reason but that she enjoys it. On the other hand, she is perfectly serious and focused on her goal. If the stack of blocks falls down, she simply tries again.

The intellectual is the person who shows this combination of play and seriousness towards ideas. To use the analogy of blocks again, the intellectual takes each block and turns it over to look at it from all sides, stacks the blocks up, arranges them in various shapes, and so forth.

Of course this activity can have a serious purpose--e.g., thinking through the ethics of cloning--but to be a specifically intellectual pursuit, it must be done out of the love of the activity itself.

America has often had a love-hate relationship with intellectualism, and still does today. Ironically, one of the ages that prized the intellect most was the Puritan era, because Puritans valued a learned ministry; after all, it was they who founded Harvard. Later, many of the Founding Fathers, such as Jefferson and Franklin, had wide intellectual interests, from philosophy, to science and the arts. Up to the middle of the 19th century, even many businessmen were cultured and well-educated--indeed, the goal of that day was to make one's fortune in trade and then retire at a relatively early age to a life of culture and philanthropy.

Despite these notable periods of favor for the intellectual, it is equally true that something about American civilization has often worked against intellectualism. Part of it was that America, which began as pioneer settlements, always had to be very practical. Another aspect was the idea that cultured and educated elites were undemocratic--resentment of "the elites" didn't begin with today's Tea Party but was always an undercurrent of American life. A third aspect was that Americans tended to see the past as something dark and backward to be improved upon and then abandoned by American know-how and self-reliance.

In politics, the Jeffersonian philosopher type went out with the age of Andrew Jackson. For the rest of the 19th century, intellectuals were mostly ineffectual reform types, criticizing from the sidelines, in magazine articles; they were not consulted in public life again until the turn of the 20th century. Their favor was high during the age of Wilson, perhaps even higher with Franklin D. Roosevelt's "Brain Trust," only to come under suspicion once more during the McCarthy era of the early 1950s.

In business, the shift from trade to railroad building and, later, manufacturing, left the businessman less leisure for intellectual pursuits, nor was he particularly interested in having men work for him who were preoccupied with theory and speculation--enough education to read, write, and handle business math was satisfactory. In religion, the scholarly minister was replaced by the barely literate circuit rider, who rode the mountains and forests for miles to preach in log cabins to backwoods settlers. Later, it was felt that too much education might undermine religious faith, and we had the spectacle of the Scopes trial. Meanwhile, practical businessmen of that day didn't care to know about theological ideas so much as the idea of religion as a "power source" that could be turned on at will.

Even literature and the arts suffered. America, unlike Europe, had no ruins of the Parthenon or medieval castles, nor did it have the same traditions of civilization. Artists and writers could certainly portray what they found here and did, but there was still a tension between merely celebrating this new land and achieving the critical distance with which the intellectual examines everything.

Even education itself was not without its challenges. If you think that "the good old days" of education, when every child had 3 years of foreign language, 3 years of math, 3 years of science, and 2 years of U.S. history, lasted continuously until a couple of decades ago, read chapters 13 and 14 of this book, and they will startle you. In the name of progressive educational theories, traditional education underwent such radical changes beginning in 1910, culminating in the "life adjustment" movement of the 1940s and 1950s, that the U.S. Navy found that many of its World War II recruits required remedial math, and the president of Yale wrote, in 1954, about a high school graduate who seemed intelligent enough to attend Yale but whose high school transcript showed mostly electives in subjects like school choir, social adjustment, etc., with just a smattering of English, history, and the more traditional academic subjects.

Hofstadter's final chapter addresses the tension between intellectuals who are willing to apply their knowledge and abilities to the service of institutions, including government and industry and those, on the other hand, who fear that they will "sell out" and be co-opted by conventional norms if they cooperate too much with society. Hofstadter was optimistic that it was possible for intellectuals to adopt a balanced outlook, cooperating with society and using their talents for its benefit, while always remaining independent-minded enough to apply their own original thinking to society's problems and not simply go along with the crowd.

Hofstadter's untimely death from leukemia at 55, in 1970, certainly deprived America of one of her foremost thinkers. This book, one of about 6 major works that he wrote, is around 450 pages, arranged in chapters of about 30 pages apiece, with notes at the end of each chapter. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to understand how the world's most advanced society can sometimes seem, at the same time, to contain knuckleheads and dunces--some, unfortunately, in positions of power. Again, this is not new--the only question is how we will respond and what kind of society we wish to have.

Steamy Paranormal BDSM

A really good book that I wanted to love. It had all my fave elements, so it should have been a slam dunk. It just seemed to lag at times. And when the action finally happened it was way too brief.

I liked Nikita and was really rooting for her and Raoul.The story just felt like something was missing.

The hot and heavy action was awesome, it just took them a while to get there. But one they do get things going the steam factor is off the charts hot! Just enough yummy BDSM action in the bedroom to warm any gal up!

I like the book but wasn't in love. It was a very enjoyable read and I am definitely looking forward to more from this author.

Raoul, the Alpha of his pack has been in love with Nikita for five years. He knows she's his mate, the problem is she's human and has no idea he's a werewolf.

When she is attacked she runs to him knowing that he'll take care of her. He tamps down his instinct to make her his but when she tells him that she knows he's a Dom he can't resist the chance to have her submit to him.

As they venture into their new relationship danger comes knocking putting Nikita's life at risk. Raoul is desperate to save her, desperate to tell her he loves her and desperate to tell her she is his mate but will he get to her in time.

I've read Doris's books before and she never disappoints. It doesn't matter if it's a short or long book.

This novella packs quite a punch. It has everything needed to make it steamy. Hot Alpha male, steamy sex, elements of BDSM and good defeating evil.
