Best Tariq Nasheed book

The Art of Mackin' takes a fresh approach to the much abuse genre of pick-up by writing predominantly for a black audience. Until The Art of Mackin' most books on pick-up were published mainly for a white audience. This lack of pick-up books in the black community made pick-up a one dimensional genre. Being one of the first pick-up books targeting a black audience, The Art of Mackin' help break the mold to a more diverse pick-up genre.

Tariq Nasheed fits the modus operandi of mack. I know this might confuse some of you, but a mack is not a pimp or a gigolo. The confusion comes from how the word pimp is used today. MTV has made popular such out of context phrases as `pimp my ride' or `pimp my house' but this definition of the word is far from its origin meaning. Today anyone with $10 in his pocket is a potential pimp despite any verbal skills.

Unfortunately The Art of Mackin' tends to overlay street terms in the same manner by covering too many topics using catchall words like pimp, gigolo and mack. The book jumps from "The Four Types of Sistas" in chapter two to "How to Be a Pimp" in chapter 3 and finally "How to Be a Gigolo" in chapter seven. Here's the problem Tariq Nasheed isn't a pimp to be giving advice on how to be one. In case you haven't seen Tariq Nasheed, a simple Google search will show you just what I mean. Tariq Nasheed had a podcast in which he never claimed to be a pimp outright.

Beside any confusion this might cause the uninitiated reader Tariq Nasheed does provide blue prints for overcoming common obstacles a black dater might face in the field. Overall the book is original and worth purchasing. I highly recommend The Art of Mackin' over Tariq Nasheed's other book The Mack within, which is just a rehash of this one.

It's Alright...

However the book seems more about stereotypes than the real and deeper issues that you might encounter with women. Human beings haven't really changed much in the past few hundred years so the stereotypes will simply be called by different names but the behaviors are mostly the same. Reading this author is an investment, you can't just read this one book and think you've got it down, you will have to get his literary collection, which I can't comment on, but I have the feeling you won't get the full benefit of this knowledge unless you read all his work.

A grand adventure

I just bought this book for the second time. The first time was about 16 years ago when my children were in grade school; I purchased it at a school book fair. It was our custom for me to read to my son and daughter in bed before going to sleep. This book was so much fun and so funny and so exciting, I could not put it down and my children did not want me to stop reading until it was done. It was such a fun book that my children's third and fourth grade teachers allowed me to read the book aloud to the whole class, who listened so intently you could hear a pin drop, unless, of course, they were laughing or appropriately responding to the story. I donated my first copy to the elementary school for others to enjoy as we had. Wouldn't it be great fun to be transported in a time machine? By again purchasing this book to read to my grandchildren, I have been. What a ride!

Max and Me and the Time Machine

ISBN 0064402223 - Not the best thing I've read in kids' books lately, but good enough to hook some of the reluctant readers, especially boys.

Steve and Max are best friends, which is a good thing, because otherwise Max might have killed Steve by now. Who could get away with convincing you to eat a dog treat, if not your best friend? So when Steve comes to the clubhouse with a $2.50 time machine, Max isn't surprised. He doesn't take it seriously, but he's not surprised at all. After some explaining, he agrees to go with Steve to the year 1250... even if the contraption doesn't look like it's going to go anywhere. When Steve thinks Max is getting cold feet, he flips the switch before Max knows what's going on and they find themselves in the bodies of Sir Robert, a medieval knight, and his horse!

Stunned that it worked, thrilled with their success, the boys learn how things work in the Middle Ages. From quack doctors with potions to romance with an Earl's daughter, they're enjoying themselves quite a bit. Now all they have to do is hope the time machine brings them back before one of them is killed!

This is the kind of book that could easily translate into a series, with the boys traveling through time. Since the inventor of their machine, Professor Flybender, went off in search of Atlantis, never to return, there's a story to be told there - and if they tell it, I'll read it!

Despite (or, perhaps, because of) their individual cre dentials, I Am Not Going to Get Up Today is a disappointment. The story of a little boy who refuses to get out of bed holds promise, but Dr. Seuss' rhymes are un even and forced, lacking the natural ca dence and choice of terms so necessary for the success of a beginning reader for mat. Stevenson's identifiable watercolor and ink illustrations are loose and fluid but border on messy. There is not a positive meshing of text and illustration in this book; readers never get the feeling that they belong together. All factors combine to make this book less than satisfying. Enjoyable but not classic

It's really a fun book to read. The illustrations aren't by Seuss so I'm assuming this is probably one he'd never intended to publish. But it's out there now. And you've got your 1 star reviewers up in arms because the kid gets to stay in bed. OH NO! (Screams the logical person) a kid gets to sleep in? How terrible.
I read a review by a "working parent" (congratulations on being a part of the group known as everybody) who was so upset that it seems this book will derail her whole life. I think a little good parenting would prevent that. Plus, as a working parent it's kinda nice when the kids want to sleep in. It gives you a little down time. Was it the best Seuss book? No. Was it fun? Yes. Was it illustrated by Seuss? No. 3 stars.

Awesome book, detailed how-to on creating better images for online products!

If you've ever tried to buy something online, and wasn't sure if it was a ripoff because of a grimy or blurry picture, take that as a lesson. It shows how much a product image can affect our point of view on whether we like something or not.

This book seeks to address that issue! I was surprised to see so much detail here. I have sold some products on craigslist and ebay, but never really put much emphasis on the product image. In the book George mentions that "The first contact customers have with your product is through your pictures", something that's so obvious that it's looked over. Any serious entrepreneur selling on eBay will probably tell you that the picture matters a LOT.

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a detailed breakdown on how to photograph the products they sell. It'll give you a huge advantage especially among the mass of similar products online. Even people who just have a lot of stuff lying around in their house that they can sell will benefit from this.

So much useful advice jammed into one little book!

Fantastic. Well written, great illustrations. Just flawless, chock full of useful photographic advice for selling product on EBay or Etsy. I've taken amateur photography courses, and got more useful advice out of this book -- much more -- than I did from a semester of futzing about in a college class.
